Hi, I’m Kim, but you can feel free to call me Akaysha and welcome to my very first blog post! I thought that I would use this time to introduce myself so you can get to know me a bit. Pretty much everything I will post will be about my incredible clients, but I get a lot of questions about who I am, what I do and why I do it. So, here goes…I would describe myself in four words: a believer, wife, momma and photographer. Because of my strong beliefs and values, I desire to do my best at everything I do. I treat all my clients with respect and love. I never take any event for granted and my hope is that all my clients feel important and honored by me.
I have been married to the love of my life since 2005 and have never been more in love than I am today. We met working at a youth summer camp where we went by camp names. He was “Rowki” and I was “Akaysha.” The reason why I named my company “Akaysha Photography” is because being known as Akaysha reminds me of being young and in love and brings me so much joy. I love being married and living life with my husband. Every wedding that I get to be a part of reminds me of how much I love being in love.
I became a mother to my first daughter in 2009 and nothing has been the same since. Becoming a mommy to my four incredible girls is the most humbling, exciting, joyous thing in my life. We had our four girls in five years and it has been a wild ride. There is not a day that goes by without a touch of chaos and a ton of laughter. I feel so blessed to be a photographer, because it allows me to homeschool my girls and have a job that I love.
My favorite thing to do is photograph a wedding. There is nothing more exciting to me than meeting my clients and developing a relationship with them and then see them take their vows to begin their lives together as a married couple. My only goal is capture my clients’ day the way they want to remember it. Of course, I do have my favorite part of the wedding and that is the first dance. I love watching couples and how the hold each other. It makes my heart melt when I see them singing the song to each other and of course, I love it when the dance ends in a dip.
While you now know that weddings are one of my favorite things, they are part of a long list in my life. So, here are a few more of my favorites: I love baseball, my favorite team is the New York Yankees! I love Ben & Jerry’s non dairy ice cream. My favorite way to spend a late night is at karaoke. I am a night owl and despise the mornings. My favorite food is Thai, I can’t get enough of anything coconut curry. I love the beach, grey skies and chai tea. Lastly, my favorite place in the whole world is India. My dream is to shoot a traditional Indian wedding in India someday.
So, there you have it. Hopefully you have learned a little more about me. I am so excited to share this blog with all of you. I look forward to sharing photos from my clients’ events and share some of my favorite wedding vendors with you.
Lots of Love!
A great big thank you to Sarah of Sarah Liz Photography for my beautiful family photos!!
